Man they do a fantastic job making these videos. I loved their top 20 synths and this is awesome to see them do it for samplers:

Cool, but the video is incredibly annoying and too ADD-oriented, especially when someone is saying something and they flash those tidbits below the screen. And hooray for them for nicking the Alan Wilder vid straight outta YouTube, lol.

Well if No.5 is Emulator II and No.4 is Mirage what do people think will be third second and first?

Heres my guess

No.1 will be Akai S900 (for its dominance in that crucial period circa 1986)

No.2 will be Fairlight (as it was the first, (ok there was something Stevie used in 1976 that did sampling too but who has ever seen that?))

No.3 will be Casio SK-1 (for bringing sampled burps and farts to the masses)

Some other front runners would be

Roland W-30 - for no other reason than it was used by Prodigy (who cares? not me, but its every damn article and ebay auction)

Synclavier - even though I get the feeling the sampling part is a bit overrated.

Emu SP12 - For hip hoppers..

Akai S1000 - The defacto standard

PPG Waveterm - I know little about this but it seemed very popular in mid 1980s

Korg DSS1 - ENjoying a resurgence!
