I ended up with the RD300sx. I liked the action. Its light and had enough sounds to do anything I need to do. The 700 had more bells and whistles,, but i felt most of them were ones that I wasnt going to use. I would put the 300 in the pro gear level, even though its not the flagship. rat

how about korg tr88? indeed, i prefer either tr88 or roland rd300sx where tr88 seems having more features though i won't use at this moment.

I owned a TR61. Stay away from them. Their resale value is {censored}.

The piano tones sound plastic. Other than that, it's a good board. It's a shame that they haven't really caught on and you'd take quite a beating if you wanted to sell it.

What about a Yamaha MO8 if you wanted to go into the workstation-light realm?

Well, it's hard to give you a good answer when your post is pretty Vague...

Basically without getting into it 1st Stay away from Korg! Not built to last.

Rolands Keybed is decent but over the years it will not feel the same! I mean to say if you play it daily, and consistently it will deteriorate at an exponential rate for sure. I have a Fantom Xr rack midi'd to my 2600 and it feels, and sounds and plays phenominal.

Yamaha's keybeds offer the best out of the choices you listed and it also sounds the best as well..

If you are considering sounds and other boards you didn't list I would recommend to you the Kurzweill K2600. I have the K2600 XS and the board's still tight and I got it years ago.... The piano sound doesn't sound real but has it's own distinctive sound and is very dynamic.

What is the use in answering if you aren't listening?

YOUR POST IS TOO VAGUE! YOU HAVE TO BE MORE SPECIFIC ABOUT YOUR NEEDS!

What do you own now? What have you owned before? Which brands do you lean towards or away from? What sounds do you need?

Even newbies have to to be bright enough to ask the right basic questions.

S90ES is better than MO8 for you if your focus is primarily toward piano, and "played sounds". Motif pianos are not as good as S90ES. The S90ES is dropping in price ... you might find some B stock for a lot less than your budget. I did.

in my place, can't find S90se as the shop said no more stock, but just the display item only.

therefore, just have a few choices listed above.

i didn't own a *really* keyboard/piano but just a $300 Casio keyboard for my playing. therefore, want to buy a better generic ONE for playing, practising, making music.

to me, my priority is:

1. piano sound

2. touch

3. features

thanks!

Based on your needs, the Kurzweil Stage Piano might be nice plus there's a few extra sounds in there if you ever need them. The keyboard feels very good for the price.

There are audio samples on their webpage: http://www.kurzweilmusicsystems.com/Product.php?product=53

You can get one for around $700 new: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SP76/

Again, it depends on your needs. Do you only really need piano sounds? Or do you need other stuff like strings, organs, etc...?

This is a good point. Your needs will dictate what type of synth you want.

Once you know this, the options will narrow.

What is is about your $300 Casio keyboard that you don't like?

My aunt gets along fine with her under-$400 Yamaha digital piano. She took over as choir director a couple of years ago at her main church, doing voice arrangements and playing all the instrumental parts, with lots of help from the Yamaha's auto-accompaniment features.

Like Innovation and Akliner said, stay away from the Korg TR.

But my reason is it's user-unfriendlyness. It's terrible to use life, with millions of menu's to follow for even the slightest changes.

Then again, the TR's sounds are great.

If you're planning to use it life, do not buy the TR.
