Members Faldoe
I'm using a M-Audio Fast Track Pro but Input 2 and it's outputs are messed up - all scratchy/noisy - its a hardware problem. So I'm on the prowl for a new interface. What I want is something USB - my laptop only has USB ports - no firewire or PCI slots. Something that has at least 2 inputs, wouldn't need for that 4. That has multiple outputs - 4 at least - I'd be using it with Ableton and assigning certain loops to play through certain outputs - thats what makes the FTP good is it's multiple outputs. Midi would be good. I'm using a Gateway NV59 laptop, Intel I5, 4gb Ram, Windows 7 Thanks.
Members Meatball Fulton
Focusrite Saffire USB 2 ins, 4 outs, MIDI Focusrite has excellent preamps. I use one of their FW interfaces, this is the only USB model they offer. $200 everywhere.

Members KJI
Another choice would be the UA25ex from Edirol. A close friend did a head-to-head comparison with it against a Apogee Mini-Me (a much more expensive unit that goes for around to 1000usd used). The UA25ex fared very well when using it with an external mic pre (i.e the conversion itself was very good for the money, although the mic pres on it are average at best). Members electro5
+1 on UA 25EX.Very reliable and has most of the features needed for a starter home studio (midi in/out, phantom power, low latency and good pre amps)works on the windows 7 as well
