Members MrQuin
Okay, here's my first new recording in 6 months. I wrote it last summer but didn't get to record it until last week. It finds its inspiration in the raven mythology. Raven: http://soundcloud.com/peter-quin/raven
Members blue2blue
Hey, Peter! "Raven" has a nice, understated arrangement, with a spare, muscular feel in the climax section, driven by the tom(s) -- or is it a Celtic frame drum? Of course, I understand it's possibly or likely from a keyboard or sample, but, no matter, it seems to focus the restlessness reflected in the main vocal in the early sections into a compelling urgency. I liked the restraint you showed with additional elements like the minimalist backing vocal(s). In this era of 100 track pop ditties, it's nice to see a song with something on its mind that gets the job done with bracing simplicity. cheers
Members U&I
Transit City 1. Website design all complete 2. Mastering finalized this coming week 3. Uploading to Tunecore for International iTunes release 4. Final track playback order is set as is. Anyone want to make me a video for the Albums title track ? This is a pre-final mastering full album high quality MP3 Promotional streaming preview. It is instrumental and is a concept piece (sacrilegious I know) and is meant to be played from start to finish without hitting the skip button - and it's all electronic. Love it or loathe it the project is my baby and I am quite proud of her. 8 Tracks in Total with a 57.5 minute play time. Probably won't be to everybody's taste I admit but it's been a lot of work and not something I have banged up over several weeks. So why not ummmm Flaunt It . Maybe since I'm a pianist and not a violinist my articulation wasn't up to snuff. Best, John

Members blue2blue
Of course not! That's what these showcase threads are for. And, I don't want you to feel the weight, but I suspect that there are more than a few of us who are secretly proud of (in our peripheral way), not to mention greatly heartened by, your recent successes. Also, heck, I actually kind of like your music.
Members blue2blue
Here's a song I wrote a few years ago. It's copyrighted, and called Bellingen Blues. Bellingen is a small rural town in Australia. I'm singing and playing live, and the guitar I'm using is an Epiphone Bluesmaster acoustic guitar. Thanks. http://www.mediafire.com/?8y5pjtmzny9 That's a little charmer, Jim! I'm a big fan of little guitar rags. Your vocal approach makes me think of a blend of 3 or 4 of my favorite 60s UK follkies. Nice.

Haven't had that much time to browse the forum lately. Yes, they're tom samples I used here, two separate drum tracks and by adding some extra stereofield I got it sounding bigger. Kind of reminds me of Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush... As for the backing vocals I had to hold myself back as I tend to get carried away with them (remember Revolution in Wonderland?). Less is more sometimes, I guess.

The strings sounded pretty authentic to me, at least everything except the highest register. That was a fairly good solo string patch. Perhaps you were expecting a thick string section?
