Members 2manband
I've been contemplating this project for a while, and I'm starting to get my thoughts together - Thought I'd bounce it off of you guys and get some feedback. So I have this oddball 1x10 speaker cabinet - It's a CBS era Leslie 60S cab - silver grill cloth, drip edge, nice chrome corners, and good plywood construction. Even have a minty original vinyl cover for the thing. It's about 23" tall x 12" wide x 8" deep. It's loaded w/ a Celestion Vintage 10 60W speaker. Has what I'd consider a 3/4 back - solid back with a ~ 4" x 7" hole in the middle. I really like the sound of this cab and it looks great. With the single 10" speaker, there's a lot of room left in the cab - a little more than half. I also have a recently acquired JHD Audio UTP1 preamp. Also kinda an oddball, but sounds good IMO. It's a single channel w/ hardwired bypass, and 10 little switches for these functions: 1 &

Members el_tonto
The Valve Jr hums a lot, so obviously you'll be wanting to find the best mod for eliminating the hum.
Members WRGKMC
They fixed the hum on the epi valves a long time ago by changing the heater voltage to DC I believe. Only the old original ones need modification. The info has been on the web for years.
Members el_tonto
but being a single-ended amp it'll still pick up up noise on the mains. Sure it'll be filtered somewhat, but I'd still be looking to uprate all the rectifier caps and probably add a choke anyway if I were using it as a recording amp.
