Where to get high quality POTS

I am rewiring one of my guitars and need two high quality 500K pots for volume and tone. I ordered some from Stuart McDonald and they are the {censored}tiest quality I have ever seen. They feel and sound like sandpaper rubbing together when I turn them.

I want ones that are nice and smooth yet fairly tight (if that makes any sense). I guess you can say I like them like my women:thu:

Any suggestions on where to get these?

I'm not sure if Callaham has 500K, but the 250K's are really high quality. Everything is pretty good stuff there, but a little pricey.

I am not sure if a 250 would work. It has 500K in there now so I was just going to replace them with the same. It is a single pickup guitar with a volume and a tone pot that runs a Seymour Duncan Dimebag Pickup.

What would putting 250ks in there do?

I can't remember if it brightens or darkens the sound. If I had to guess, I'd say it brightens? Sorry, I'm not more help. I think I'd stick with a 500k pot personally.

BUT they're $14 each (they'll last forever, conductive plastic , noise free, audio taper)

There are plenty of US suppliers of CTS and Alpha pots, check Warmoth, Allparts and others. A quick search on the web or on ebay should give you some options.

Yesterday I placed an order for 2 CTS 500k pots at only $4.69 each, plus some Orange drop caps, a cheap new nut for my Epiphone, and a few other things. Prices seemed fair on everything, but I ended up buying more to not take such a hit with the $5.99 shipping rate.

Ah, yes. A good excuse to buy a {censored}load of stuff. "But honey, shipping costs mean I should get it now." My last batch of Allparts pots are Alpha mini's @ $2.49 from a guitar shop here in town.

Checking out the CTS pots and they seem to be what I need. My diagrams for my pickup say 500K in the volume, but is not listing a value for the tone.

My old set up had a 500K in the tone as well. I am using a Seymour Duncan Dimebag pickup in a guitar with a single humburcker 1 volume, and 1 tone pot. What value should I use for the tone pot. I am looking for a good heavy tone with my distortion.

Carvin.com has good quality parts and wiring stuff for very reasonable and they ship fast to.

Small Bear Electronics sells Alpha pots and they're great, and cheap.

go to guitar center. get the all parts pots. they are cts. instead of ordering them online --17 for 3

I ordered some alpha pots from GFS for my strat and they work beautifully and were dirt cheap.
