I posted this in the Recording forum, but didn't get much of a response, figured i would try you guys.

For around $300 used, would you get Event TR6/TR8's or Wharfedale Diamond 8's? Or something else?

I don't want to go any smaller than 6.5"

I have listened to the Events and like them. I don't have an opportunity to try the Wharfedales. What do they sound like by comparison? Also, what is the difference between the 8.1's and 8.2's?

Check e-bay, but for $300.00 I don't think you can get anything decent.

Looking for decent, relatively inexpensive monitors myself.

The VL-X5 pair can be had for $225 at the moment from Scitscat Music, according to an email I recently received after doing some ebay business with them.

I have a pair of KRK RP-8s and they are great for the $500 I paid for them new. Some people have said that the smaller Rokit models are just as good.

I have actually read good things about those Tascams that Warhead mentioned somewhere else, so I'm sure they are worth checking out as well. Plus, he's a pro audio dealer so you can be sure he knows what he's talking about.
