i have been using event's ez-bus since it was introduced. it is main mixer and my digital recording input thru its usb out.

now it has been discontinued and do not support the latest mac os.

since i don't think selling it is a good idea, i was thinking in getting a simple digital input device so i can use the s/pdif out of the ez/bus to the s/pdif in of some newer (and supported device). what's the best option, get a simple interface like m-audio transit, or go for the pcmcia (i have a laptop) version of the soundblaster?

i never do multitrack recording.

HELLO!

The EZbus gives you the ability to send up to eight tracks via ADAT Lightpipe, besides of the S/PDIF Stereo option.

You might buy any other interface with ADAT IN and keep using the EZBus as your main mixer / interface and let another device be the ADAT bridge to the computer.

... or as you mention, getting an unexpensive S/PDIF device might do the trick and you could keep using the EZBus. Even a soundblaster could do the trick since you will use only the S/PDIF port, where NO A/D or D/A conversion is done.

BTW... The TRANSIT does not have COAXIAL S/PDIF, only TOSlink (which means optical S/PDIF) and Analog stereo.

btw, the ez-bus also has toslink out, so i think the transit should be a better option when compared to the pcmcia soundblaster, right??

About inexpensive ADAT interfaces I can only think about the one from EVENT too, the EZ8 but I guess they did notmake it for OSX.

... and even when I work for M-Audio, I could not tell you that the TRANSIT is "better" per s
