I caught Mike in another forum...

Again, no disrespect intended in the slightest. I just have this vision of steel shredders and benders with legs flailing setting their pants on fire to the friction of the fweep-fweep-fweep of corduroy! I know some amazing players one of whom (Mike) recorded an all pedal steel version of Holst's "The Planets"... Doesn't take away that silly vision though...

Oh, I just meant I thought it was really funny and he might get a chuckle out of it

ADDITIONL : FWIW - guys, if you haven't had a chance to check out Mike, do so!

(I have his firebird suite recording, but not his MoTS -- I'll have to check that out)

Susan Alcorn too - some very cool atmospheric stuff!

I know 'cause I r 1..

Lord knows I've dished out my share of jokes about drummers and musicians. :)

There aren't many Pedal Steel Jokes. If you have more please share.

The only ones I can think of are what we sometimes tell folks who ask what we're playing:

- a 20 String Pitch Aproximater

- an Industrial Cheese Slicer

- a String Organ

Seriously, it's a great instrumet that has suffered (and benifited) from it's Country Music stereotype.

Just like I never could see Carol O'Conner as anyone but Archie Bunker, even though he was a versitile actor.

It can do a lot more. Folks like Mike and Susan are pushing those barriers.

The bulk of my gigs are $ New Country $.
