Members tremolounge
Daniel Lanois has been posting some great videos from his latest project, Black Dub. Trixie Whitley just oozes charisma from every pore. As a longtime Lanois fan, I'm very excited about this -- it's shaping up to be his best thing since "Wrecking Ball". Members UstadKhanAli
I'm a big Daniel Lanois fan, and have met him twice as well. He'd be on my shortlist for producers if I could have a producer. And "Wrecking Ball" is easily one of my favorite releases. Thanks for posting those!!!!! I'll listen to 'em when I get home!! Members rasputin1963
Those strike me as very straightforward, very clean mixes, no? Reverb kept to an absolute minimum. Gorgeous tone from the guitar which doesn't fight at all with what the drummer is laying down...

Members tremolounge
Yeah, I think he produced one of Chris' albums -- and they were friends. Great that his daughter has picked up the torch. [edit] It was actually Malcolm Burn who produced Chris Whitley. From CW's wikipedia entry: In 1988, U2/Peter Gabriel producer Daniel Lanois discovered Whitley while he was playing at Mondo Cane in New York City and helped get him a record deal with Columbia Records. Members Roy Brooks
The thing I don't really care for about this stuff is the singing. Not that it is Trixie Whitley singing but simply because there is singing at all. I would like this music much more if it was all instrumental. Then I would actually go out of my way to get a copy of the record.
Members UstadKhanAli
This seems to have a lot of promise. I only listened to the first video so far, but it sounds like it has a lot of promise.

Members agradywills
Sonho Dourado is I've tried locating the tab for this song but I found only one that's in standard tuning and doesn't include all of Daniel's extra touches on the song. Would anyone know where I could find the tab for this song?

Members UstadKhanAli
Lanois' Facebook page just posted that they're "almost done" mixing; they're talking about a January album release. Is that his actual page or his fan page? Regardless, that's exciting. I've just bought tix to their Spaceland gig on the 14th (yes, Valentine's Day). Members UstadKhanAli
Thanks. I forgot to look for it. Been busy, but thanks for the link. I'll check it out. I am FaceBook friends with him (I've met him several times, although we don't exactly go bowling together or anything), so that's partially why I asked...to narrow it down. Members UstadKhanAli
Last night I bought tickets to their Bowery Ballroom show on Feb. 17th. I'm excited. You're gonna love it. I went to the show at Spaceland last night (14 Feb) and really dug it. If there is someone named Rocco Deluca, get there early...he had a cool set as well. Here are some photos I took of the Daniel Lanois + Black Dub thing last night.
Members tremolounge
Nice shots -- thanks for sharing! I was gonna ask you who the bassist was, but then I read your captions -- we'll have to track that info down...
