I had put it to CarmineW that we should add Animal to the Guild. Someone had posted adding Danny Seraphine and when I came across some great footage of Animal I thought of adding him in.

He has certainly been around for a good while, and though he doesn't necessarily have the expertise some would use for major inspiration, he does live in my heart as good fun.

Any and all thoughts welcome (well, within reason of course).

To all the faithfull GG members. I'm sorry to evoke executive privilege, but the ANIMAL has certainly fulfilled all the requirements of the true Geezer Guild spirit. And since his debut in 1976, that makes him at least 31 years old...at least from the Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem band. He most certainly acts to be at the very least in his 20's on the show, so by now he could be pushing 50 or more. I officially proclaim him a member in good standing of our Geezer Guild, as well as our soul inspiration and mascot.

BEAT DRUMS FOREVER my furry little friend!!!:thu:

What about Bobby Brady? He started at a young age back on the Brady Bunch. I am guessing he was around 8 or 9. He had to be playing for a good number of years before he was in the poor race car accident and was paralyzed. Shouldn't he be considered as well. :D

Mom always said, don't play drums in the house.

C'mon man, we're talkin real drummers here! :D Not just show biz actors!

And not that Animal was lipsynching...eerrr...drumsynching, but there really was a player involved with Animal, his closest friend besides Frank Oz, Jim Henson and Floyd (no not Floyd the barber from Andy Grigffith) from Electric Mayhem, Ronnie Verrell...literally his right hand man...see below...

I think I can say, with complete conviction, that ANIMAL, the all out attacker of mylar stretched drums ( or would he be using real hides?) is sorely overlooked as a major influence on many of today's drumming superstars. First off, there's his kit setup; it changed from show to show, showing that Animal was always experimenting , thinking about how different he could sound. Second, there is his hell bent for leather attacking style; hit EVERYTHING on the kit, as fast and as hard as you can! Animal is a very flexible drummer, he can play in many genres of music, although he's best at home laying down the groove for Dr Teeth and company. Animal is the consumate showman. twirling his sticks, in constant motion on, around, and sometimes THROUGH his kit. Hey, when you can upstage Rita Moreno, you know you're dealing with a major talent. If you look hard, there's even more than a passing resemblance to Mike Portnoy....I'm just sayin......lastly, Animal is the prototypical drummer...outside of his kit, he tends to stay in himself, scaring off folks who misinterpet his growls for aggression. He's just saving his energy so when Dr T nods and counts them in, he knows he never has to worry about Animal not being there. I too, salute Animal, or , as the....man?....himself might say it....AN - NI - MALLLLLLLLLLL!!!!

Animal definitely belongs in the Guild. A drummer friend of mine used to (probably still does) set a likeness of him between his two front/center toms on stage way back in the late 70's early 80's.

I found a pic of him from 2003 at a reuninon gig. You can barely make out Animal on his toms in this pic...
