Members UKSkidders
Hi Looking for help/confirmation. I am installing a RIMS-style Gibraltar mount onto a 13" Ludwig tom. (Can't find installation instructions anywhere on the web), I have installed as follows: 1) Remove top hoop. 2) Place RIMS mount over lugs (rubber grommets installed).3) Replace Top hoop/Head and fix tension bolts through hoop, grommets on Rim Mount into lug boxes and tighten. When I get the bolts up to tension the RIMS mount moves horizontally a little which is a little unnerving. On my Starclassic the hoops have seperate holes for the Starcast system and as a result they don't budge. Am I to expect this level of movement or have I screwed up the installation? Any help appreciated. Cheers Carl
Members 1001gear
It's not uncommon for Rims brackets to end up off angle. Especially in use. There is nothing to prevent them from doing so. You can maybe use aquarium hose as alignment spacers.

Since it appears my installation is roughly right, I'll bugger about with the mount to make it a wee bit tighter. Fortunately I have some old hose from a Tropical tank.
