Seems to me everybody is so caught up in what brand to have, what wood, what ply, what snare, what heads, what pedals, what cymbals, what sticks, what hardware, what footwear, what to eat, what T.Shirt, what fog machine, what tattoo, what face do i pull, that we have forgotton about what we are there for. I include myself. Do you think Buddy Rich worried about stuff??? Lets face it, as i said to my father once, we cant all be accountants.:blah:

"How can something so wrong, feel so right?"

(I think I said something to that effect towards the end of my first marriage, and it wasn't to my then wife).

Man I was a Dog.................... no, I was a lead singer then. That's right.

I know what you're saying. As soon as I start playing a gig I forget all this {censored} and just get into a meditative although reactive zone that I can't quite describe. I come to this forum for the speculation and random banter of products and tools for the art. Also to hear stories and insight of fellow drummers in the business. Perhaps we should discuss the art aspects more than the tools, which is why I post so many videos in the Youtube thread. With this text format, it's hard to discuss rhythm and really all aspects of music.

Seriously, I also hear what you guys are saying, even though my last post I was being a smart a** which is totally unlike me. But I think we discuss ALL aspects on here and this forum ebbs and flows. Most of the questions that are asked are important to the poster at the time, this includes myself. I've learned a ton on here. Until we can all get web cams, and have "fly eye" monitor screens, learning rhythm is tough to get across in this format. And, I do think that Buddy Rich did at the very least do some research at times on all of these issues at one time or another. It's a whole package whether we like the wrapping or not. JMO. I often find it funny to have these discussions, since we're talking about the philosophy and the "vibe" of drumming. Talking about the empathy of drumming is like dancing to explain architecture. :)

But yes... the industry has changed and discussion on what's been done and what's available seems to outweight what we do and what we want to achieve. I think there can still be a harmonious mix - I welcome that mix!
