DW 9000 Dbl - chain pulling at an angle...

Okay so I recently went back to playing a DW 9000 double pedal and I bought one brand new in the box. I set it up and just notice that the chains aren't pulling straight down....what I mean is if you were to look at it from the front the chain slants to the right between the cam and the board. There are no adjustments on the pedal to correct this. Anyone else notice this on there 9000 or did I maybe catch a bad batch? I emailed DW and tomorrow will contact their Rep. for my district of GC stores. It's not effecting the play of the pedal but I feel like long term it could be detrimental.

To me it sounds like either the heel plate is not centered, causing the footboard to be off to the side, or the tension of the nut holding the chain to the foot board is twisting the chain, both of which will result in the chain not being vertical. I would contact DW about this, and have them fix it. It's a simple fix, but they're brandnew pedals, and shouldn't have issues yet.

If you do have to fix it you would just have to loosen the screws holding the heel plate, or loosen the nut holding the chain to the foot board. Be careful when messing with the screws, b/c DW uses a thread locker that is heat activated, and if you don't heat them up enough you will strip the screws.

If I'm visualizing the situation correctly, it think it's too much torque on the nut, twisting the chain. Is the chain going to the right when you look at the pedal from the front of the pedal, or from the driver's seat?

i had exactly the same problem and it WAS fixed at once by these steps:

1, loosen the screws one the heel plate

2, center the foot board (move left as in your case)

3, tighten back

But there is another problem with 9000 left pedal. when i do slide double stroke on it. the chain reacts slower than the footboard and will make noise. wonder if anyone is having the same prob. i eventually sold them and return to IC.

BAM! A new user who begins with information and not another "Hi, I'm new here..."

That's what I like to see. Welcome to HC.
