Members race81
Im likely to have a audition within the next couple of weeks. I am being sent the practice material within days. I am looking at getting an iPod or simular product to practice through. Any suggestions?? Is there headphone limitations with any of these. Will decent in-ear pieces suffice for a drum practice? Something compact to clip on the rear of my pants perhaps?? Im kinda electronically challenged at times so something "easy" and non-time consuming for a setup would be nice. Members manoeuver
I use a sansa fuze. cheap, expandable and easy to use. prolly get an 8 gig one for around $50 if you get the not-most-recent generation. I use it with some semi-isolation type earbuds (sony) that I got for $30. works fine for practice. hell, I've used those earbudsfor a couple live shows with clik/tracks. good luck race! Members SYMBOLIC
I know this may be a dumb question given your first post, but do you have a smart phone?
Members race81
Nope....no technical phone what so ever. I wish I did as its my understanding that they do the same thing as an iPod or equivelant??????

Do you understand how a generic MP3 player works at all?Or have any familiarity with using MP3's outside of a computer?
Members manoeuver
inside a computer it's too dark to see the controls of your mp3 player.

Technically ....no. Can I burn music from my PC at home to a cd....yes. Everything else is foreign
Members kmart
Is that straight drive to disc burning, or are you ripping CD audio to your computer?Do you use any software to actually manage mp3s on the computer? If so, the only difference with an mp3 player is that you're 'burning' mp3s to a tiny little harddrive instead of some sort of media (CD). But beyond that...a bunch of people online aren't going to be able to help you out much, because it's kind of something you have to DO; there's a million possibilities, and none of them necessarily THE way. And there's no manual. Go to a Best Buy outside of peak hours; walk up to a guy in a blue shirt and say "HI. I've been living under a rock for the past decade plus. I believe I would like to purchase some sort of mp3 player or iPod, preferably something that comes with software I can install to manage the music on my computer. Can you help me?"Be prepared to answer a number of questions. Be prepared to ask a number of questions. Be prepared to have a budget in mind. Be prepared to spend some time getting things configured to your liking once you purchase; may not be what you want to do, or what you're comfortable doing, but honestly, in today's world, a musician should be very well versed with this kind of technology for learning material, etc.
