Members Onacor
Took some samples of my songs I wrote a bit back. I hear my throat is closed, and I am probably using compression in the throat (though my voice never wore out, or sore).. I basically did it for stylistic purposes.. Can singing like that injure my voice? Thanks everyone Please listen to it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVgXm7OgXVw
Members ido1957
Cool - nice vocals. If it doesn't hurt and you aren't losing any quality as time goes on then I would say ..... nope.... but I am not a teacher... :-p
Members Onacor
Thanks Ido... There was no pain with that technique (mind you, I developed a fast vibrato, which I consciously try to slow down now)..... After the night, though my voice was shot... Moderators davie Posted March 6, 2012 Moderators Share Posted March 6, 2012 Interesting style. You seem to adopt a completely different voice/character in each song. Definitely an asset when it comes to singing. Not completely sure if its healthy or not, but the gritty stuff can easily go wrong if you're not doing it properly (static.. get in here ). But I find it's best to discover your natural tone and then build off of that. Also IMO, I think that using too many "different voices" makes a singer's voice less distinct/recognizable. I'm hearing a lot of influences in there. I'm kinda hearing David Bowie, Eddie Vedder, Geoff Tate, and James Hetfield? lol

You are capable of great tone and interesting inflections - I would pay some attention to the development of your own style.
