Members chamcham
Or you can just use a pitch pipe. I have this one: http://www.samash.com/p/Kratt_MK1S%20Chromatic%20Pitch%20Pipe%20F%20to%20F_-49967827
Members staticsound
Or if you have a smartphone, just download an app. I got a pitchwheel for my iPhone a couple years ago and still use it occasionally.
Members Tommy57
I figured a pitch pipe you have to put it to your mouth then match the tone after the tone stops. I thought maybe the electronic one keeps sounding so you can get in pitch right along with it. Yea, the smartphone thing. I'm not much for technology. Much to the complaints of those around me. I still have a flip phone. I figured a pitch pipe you have to put it to your mouth then match the tone after the tone stops. I saw you press something and a tone sounded lasting awhile while you matched your vocal to it. I thought that was a great benefit over a standard pitch pipe. I guess that was your phone app? Cool, thanks for checking out my channel! Yeah, that was just that pitchwheel app on my phone I was talking about. The pocket tone is basically the same thing if you're planning on getting it. Members ido1957
It's a good tool. So are the apps and pitch pipe. But I agree the old pitch pipe is not quite as good because the tone is gone after you blow into it.I like it being so small...
Members Tommy57
Those apps look good but like I said, I don't have an iphone/ipad/smartphone or any of that. Yea, I'm a dinosaur Thanks Tommy
Moderators davie Posted February 25, 2012 Moderators Share Posted February 25, 2012 I'm also a dinosaur. lol. I still use a flip phone too -_-" I was actually looking at the pitch player device too. I saw one on eBay. Was thinking about buying one. It's so troublesome to always go to the piano and practice. Maybe I should get one, wrap it in saran wrap and practice in the shower. Tommy I sing the pitch while blowing into the pitch pipe. I can feel the resonance from matching the pitch. Also, pitch pipes never run out of battery. Lastly, flip phones have superior battery life compared to smartphones. They can last 80 hours on a single charge (good for those out in the woods). You'd be lucky to get 4 hours on a smartphone these days. I'm surprised the smartphone generation has already forgotten this.
Members Tommy57
Yea, I'm just not into all that stuff. My wife has an Iphone and anytime I have it in my hands I end up just giving it right back to her. I seem to have no interest in it. I just want to make a phone call. I do text, but only because people text me. I'd rather not. I don't find HD TV's such a big deal either. But a Pocket Tone? Now that's really something!!!! Just kidding. Thanks for the help guys.
