Song Post - Enter Sandman

As before this was done in a single take warts and all. no edits or post-processing.

Setup:

Audix OM3x -> Boss VE-20 (w/"Dynamics" and a bit of reverb) -> iMac -> Garage Band (no effects)

This was actually the first take - a few bumpy spots but overall I am basically happy

I would rather you have done a few more and post something better, than one you are not entirely pleased with along with a bunch of excuses. It doesn't sound horrible, but if you say you can do better, then do it! I'd be interested in hearing that!

This sounds like someone who has an STD might sound like, specifically genital warts or maybe herpes.

It would sound better through a SM58 Beta A as well.

I hear ya... it' s just that a lot of takes probably would have only yielded a marginal improvement and frankly, I just have other things I want to do with my time.

I didn't know that's what this song was called all this time. lol. Goodo. Alright...this sounds ok to me. Your tone's nice, you've got a good grit there in your voice...you're in tune...the vocals don't sound CONNECTED with the music, but I don't think that's your fault. I think you've got a really good voice!!!! It sounds as if you could've given it more...more OOMPH somehow...maybe?

I am sorry you feel this way. I did mention right in the first post:

Once Grace mentioned having heard everyone or some such and I mentioned that I had not posted anything. She encouraged me to do so and I foolishly committed to a date. Duke called me out after I missed that date. So I (foolishly again) committed to another date.

My voice is still a bit {censored}ed up but I thought I never would have heard the end of it if I missed a second deadline. I may have been able to improve upon what I posted but with my voice being what it has been, any improvement would have been marginal AND only probably tired my voice out. I have the first practice in 4 weeks coming up this weekend and did not want to overextend myself.

Anyways I have posted two clips of me because a couple people were interested in hearing my voice. I was not trying to "do anyone any favors" or show off. I am not even really soliciting criticism or feedback. Listen if you like, comment if you like: While not my best performance this is more or less what I sound like. If you feel like listening to that is a waste of time that's fine, but I am not sure why it would offend you just because I was not able or willing to wring out the very best performance I could muster.

Are you saying that people should only post if they have given 110% Can everyone honestly say that every clip they post is the very best they could have done?

I think perhaps I mixed the vocals a little hot on this one? I am pretty much a n00b when it comes to recording and I had never touched Garage Band before. A disproportionately large amount of time spent on this was learning/fighting with GarageBand.

The way you implied that "you had better things to do" seem very snobish as in "I will grace you with my voice, even if it's not good, it's good enough for all of you"...I am not going to make an effort since it is not worthy of me...

Grace you post for fun, you don;t make a big deal out of it, and you do it as an exploration and not to prove yourself, big difference that posting as an answer to being called out by someone else.

Sorry Mike, wrong reason, wrong approach, wrong delivery, poor choice of words...I still like you adn whenever you post something that you yourself think it's nice, or that you truly want to share, please let me know and I will be the first oen listening to it.

This was more my motivation. Guess I effed it up.

If you want critique on the vocals, I'd say that

- The higher notes thin out, go nasal and stray off pitch.

Otherwise you've totally got the right idea to my ears. I'm no metal dude though.
