Members blessed81_99
Hello, Can anybody point me to a link that gives quick prep exercises for getting your voice ready for performance? I have to hit a high note- but even worse a high note directly FROM a low note with little to no transition. ( I hope that's explained accurately) There should be something out there you can do in say a week to get prepared- I'm just not sure where. Any help would be appreciated ( =
Members rockinrobby
I would say, take the song that you're working on, transpose it down one full step. i.e., if it's in D? Take it to C... Practice it, get comfortable with it, several daze... Then transpose it to C#? Practice it for several daze? Get comfortable with it? Then? GO FOR IT! In the original key! (good luck).

Moderators davie Posted December 13, 2010 Moderators Share Posted December 13, 2010 If you want a specific exercise to help with a low to high note transition, then here's one. Vocalize this on whatever vowel that you're using. Sang legato in major scale, transposing by a half step each time.1 3 5 3 1 3 5 3 1 3 5 3 1 --> 1' (one octave higher)
Members grace_slick
Yeah, I used to find I could go up to whatever note I tried by simply practicing over and over and OVER that note…in a few days I’d have it down. Do scales from your mid range up to your target note (and ABOVE, even if it’s just one note above the note you need, this’ll help you both physically cause if you can go just above it, then you can definitely do the note you need, and also mentally it’ll help cause it won’t seem like this huge feat you have to accomplish each time. It’ll be the one BELOW that, so no big deal). Do these over and over. Then practice intensively going from the low note straight up to the targeted high note. You’ll get it. Members YeahDoIt
You might sing the ee or ah sound, alternate between the low and high notes, sustain a second or two (or longer). Use a keyboard or guitar for a pitch reference.
