Moderators davie Posted September 7, 2010 Moderators Share Posted September 7, 2010 apparently staccato exercises help with that. I haven't been able to accomplish high soft, but lately i can manage to make my upper range more soft. If you good with colouring your voice, you can probably lighten your voice by singing the note with more head voice and less chest voice. Though if its sung in purely falsetto then its almost always soft.
Members ido1957
Tough for me to sing soft high notes - there usually pretty loud cause I'm really pushing to hit those highs. Falsetto when my voice is tired and that's way softer...
Members DeadNight Warrior
You shouldn't really need to push to hit the high notes. A quick way to get into being able to sing soft high notes is, as always, vocal fry. Vocal fry by nature requires a connected voice, and very controlled use of air. So get comfortable making fry noises to start with, then once you're happy with the silly noise you can make, slide up into higher notes in vocal fry, and then drop the "fry" part of the sound to be left with just a pure high head voice note. Will feel distinctly different from forcing your chest voice too high or singing in falsetto.
Members grace_slick
I’m not sure if this is as relevant to me, since I’m a girl, but the soft higher notes are the easiest for me to do, apart from low notes. Both are easy for me. It’s all the damn MIDDLE notes that are hard!! Lol. Anyway, I just don’t use my FULL / WHOLE voice when doing the soft high notes. Otherwise I guess maybe you’d get cracking or something…not sure. I don’t know physically how to do them any other way. Except for belting…but I’m no good at that, and it depends how high you actually want to go…if you put too much fullness and volume into the really high notes, it kinda becomes melodic “screaming”. Lol.
