If we speak about guitars, there are many details people do differently, and there isn't just one correct and one wrong way. You should try both and see which one seems more comfortable for you. Also, there are a lot of aspects, like accessories, that make the difference. I love to get mine from Iron Age Accessories, and during the years, these accessories, like the picks, belts, and so on, made me realize how I keep/use my guitar. I don't recommend just listening to one person because this will limit you, and you won't explore as much.
