  1. With all due respect old friend, fighting the uncouth by being uncouth does not make your point more valid. If you want to fly with the eagles Sir, you must not spend your time eating your own excrement with the chickens. You are better than that. At least i have always felt that by your post. One of the things i have always loved about your post was the ideal of keeping your feet on the ground and yet, somehow still reaching for the stars. Keep reaching for the stars old friend. Don't become a bottom feeder. wow....go away for a few hours and come back and it's nothing but {censored}ing constant stupidity from you. page after page of stupid comments. But of course I'M sooooo angry right? Seriously though...how the {censored} do you get to be so stupid? I really want to know. Did you practice it? Is it inherited? Are your parents this stupid too? Come on...tell me...my scientific mind needs to know...is this Nature stupid or Nurture stupid?
  2. It's unwise to disagree with someone who is always correct. HP Hovercraft: women want him, men want to BE him.
  3. I think HP Hovercraft may be your secret love-child. He has never knowingly disagreed with you. There are many disciples of Tastemanship. It's not about me - it's about science.
  4. Why? The REAL Rocker is a troll, and Django is a purveyor of tastemanship. HP Hovercraft knows the score and isn't afraid to speak his mind.
  5. John Mayer studied at Berklee where did Stevie go? Seagal has mastered the ancient Chinese guitar technique of thumb-fu.
  6. I am willing to bet his I/P address is very similar to Django's. ..........You'd be wrong about that .............Can't fry a fish without taking out the old folks for a waltz. ..............:cop:Where did my bagel run off to? ...................Maybe you should just go to bed ............................................The REAL Django.
  7. With Charlton Heston as "Blind Dog" Willie Brown; he could split the Mississippi! Pharaoh - let my blooze borelords go!
  8. I hear they're gonna' remake the movie Crossroads with Mayer in the role of Macchio and Seagal in the role of Vai. Finally, the story of blues can be told.
  9. No one on HCEG is a real bluesman. Unless John Mayer or Steven Seagal post here.
  10. I don't know, he kind of went too far in this thread. In his offset and string gauge threads I genuinely just thought he was a crazy old person...his statements here were not subtle enough and too over the top. I give him a C-. Anyone who mistakes correctmanship for trolling has no business picking up a guitar. You should donate yours to charity.
  11. ---------------I disagree big time. In this era of people trying to sound EXACTLY their favorite blues hero, and certainly have no originality about them:facepalm:, Steven sounds like himself:idea:, and he is NOT a bad singer or guitarist. He is a guy following his own path, and If you don't like him, Fine, but he isn't a horrible player or singer...................The REAL Rocker. If anyone has blues credibility aside from Mayer, it's Seagal. The man is a tour de force of hot and heavy blues licks and blues authenticity.
  12. Well what happened to the guy exactly? The scars run deep. DEEP.
  13. So white people can't be sad and play music to alleviate some of their pain? +1 John Mayer knows all about pain.
  14. Nah Im happy for him. He must have had a pleasant childhood with loving parents, yet he can play the blues like nobody's business. What does that tell you? John Mayer has a lot of demons in his past. You know even know.
  15. I read these comments as sour grapes. Some people wish they could play blues. John Mayer IS the blues.
  16. I've never understood the John Mayer hate. He seems like a normal guy to me. I'm sure he can be asshole at times, but if I was famous and had college girls on my jock all day I'd probably be convinced of my superiority as well. I think given the intense personal tragedies he's suffered, it's understandable that Mayer might be a little abrasive.
  17. Warren Haynes' background makes him the best we have left, now that Junior Kimbrough is gone. Haynes can eat a couple of Jon Mayers for breakfast. Plus, Haynes has amps that were custom made for him by a famous dead guy. How much more authentic-y can a bluesman be ? Buddy Guy is authentic, but I'm not sure he's still a bluesman. He's authentically something, but damned if I know just what to call it. There's also Scott Ainslie (blues player and performing historian), but I don't think Scott would call himself a bluesman like Junior Kimbrough was. I just don't think Warren Haynes has the gravitas or the credibility of a John Mayer. Mayer is so good that he's started to take a lot of lesser players under his wing and given them a shot at REAL stardom, riding on his coattails. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfBJCUwtgBA&feature=related It's just too bad that Stevie Ray Vaughn died before he could meet John Mayer. Mayer could have taken SRV to the woodshop and helped him learn how to really play some authentic blues instead of that fake Texas stuff.
  18. yeah i rich kid in connecticut very authentic and a lot of hardship. typical clueless john mayer fan John Mayer went through hell and back. It informs everything he plays. Most bluesmen don't have the deep well of angst to draw on that Mayer has. You simply don't know what you're talking about.
  19. No joke man, things are rough in Connecticut... Taxes and {censored}! I think treating the intense personal hardships that John endured so lightly shows a lack of basic human decency.
  20. ... Can some one post evidence of this "great modern electric blues" I keep hearing about? All I've heard is sappy love songs for the radio. If there is truly something of worth in his catalog, I'd like to check it out. This generation's "Stormy Monday" [video=youtube;iT3ufTZJE2A]
  21. I think many people miss the sarcasm with him. He's a funny guy and I don't think he takes himself as seriously as many think he does. I think much of the stuff like sticking the guitar in the freezer and getting the finish stripped off is just him goofing around. Probably his way of trolling all of the internet bedroom playing haters. And he taught them many things by parables.
  22. Prophets are inevitable despised in their native lands. HCEG is the Land of the Fender Strat, Mayer is the reigning Master of the Stratocaster, therefore he's hated. Thou speakest truly! From: "The Stoning of St. John of Mayer"
  23. When I listen to his music, I feel like I'm hearing the very essence of the blues. +1 If you read his biography, you can see that Mayer pulls a lot of the expression and feeling in his music from his troubled past. That's a deep wellspring of angst that makes his blues so much more authentic. I feel like everyone is influenced by Mayer now, even the old guard like Buddy Guy and Clapton. He's changed the genre forever.
  24. Arguably Mayer is the only authentic bluesman in the business today.
  25. Personally I'd say a better analogy would be going into a biker hangout and telling them they should be driving nice family hatchbacks and dressing more conservatively. Not that I've done such a thing - well, not twice anyway. Both excellent ideas.
