  1. poncho I don't know, is it rated to repel {censored}sauce?
  2. No kidding, all I had wanted was an update ...
  3. I like flame/quilting ... a LOT! But on LPs Gibby or Epi I prefer a plain top. Dunno why, maybe 'cause mine is ...
  4. I think though Mr. Goodbomb you are working from one misconception: At no point in the story (IIRC) was it indicated that the older man was a player. Just because the guitars were old and had been played doesn't mean it was by him. They could have belonged to a recently deceased family member. Maybe he was bringing them in b/c having them around were bringing up painful memories, thus the desire to "get rid of them" ... It still makes him hasty and maybe foolish, but not deserving of being hustled ....
  5. Absolutely the old guy made a mistake, but I would not have been able to live with myself if I didn't at least TRY to find him and let him know. Of course, I probably would have said, "I don't know lets take a look ...", in regard to his question about the value ....
  6. Well, I've personally don't have a guess as to value I think the discussion was $1000-1500 ....
  7. Blackcat: Let me see if I can sum this up correctly .... The story as reported by the OP (douche #1) was that this older guy came in with 2 beat-up guitars and asked what they might be worth. Douche #2, a fellow employee said, "nothing', so the old guy said they should dispose of them. So they took them cleaned them up and lo-and-behold, douche #1 had the vintage LP Jr .... which he was going to keep without reporting it to either his employer or trying to find the old man and let him know what was what. But, as he tried to defend himself, it wasn't like he STOLE it b/c he had to buy a couple of parts for it .... Never did hear what douche #2 ended up with. Needless to say the responses to his post were not kind. Orange you were there for that, right? I miss anything?
  8. Yeah, at that price, it's a great "alternate tuning" guitar to have around. But I like Jacksons ...
  9. Well THAT part I know ... I'm just wondering what the outcome was ... I know there were several forumites from the area that happened that were going to the corporation about said behavior ...
  10. Hey, anybody know what happened with the Long & McQuade guy who scammed the old dude out of the vintage LP Jr?
  11. It's not about how well they play them. It's about how well they sell them. This. Plus a lot of young metal guys will see people they know/like playing ESP/LTD, and even if they don't buy a sig chances are they'll at least try some or maybe get another (cheaper) model. Great marketing, especially if you consider many people stick with a brand once they find one they like ... Bottom line, it helps the bottom line.
  12. One advantage to that pink is that it's much easier to talk yourself into a refin ....
  13. It may not be strictly necessary, but neither is playing, period .... You can get by without it, but why not give it a spin. Even if you never really use it, it might help you expand your thinking and THAT'S never a bad idea ...
  14. Dang, mojo AND medical knowledge sent in the same thread. See, we're not snarky assholes all the time! Glad to hear, she's doing better, scuz, and good to know it's serious but not necessarily life threatening.
  15. Mojo to you and your mom, dude. Not to be too sappy, but make sure you tell you love her, you won't regret saying it, but you will regret not saying it. From one who knows.
  16. Not the prettiest? Ok. But far, FAR from the ugliest! Enjoy! BTW speaking of hot old ladies, how old is Helen Mirren? Sofia Loren? Raquel Welch? 'Cause would, would and would!
  17. Maess seems about right to me: Myabe a little more if anything is deemed "collectible", but I'm not up on that. Throw them up in the spam thread or the market forum if you do decide do sell, I'd like to at least gawk ....
  18. The most interesting thing about most ebay auctions these days is that many, MANY used (and I'm not talking vintage) guitars are going for MORE than the same instrument will cost new! Sure I've gotten 5 guitars and an amp from the 'bay all at decent prices, but it takes a LOT of slogging these days to find a good deal.
  19. Is Prince a bit ... odd? Yeah. Can he play? {censored} yeah! He may sometimes do things, but at least he's following his OWN direction rather than being just another cookie cut-out pop star.
  20. I like my Blackstar, great for gain, but the clean isn't super, not bad but if you do a lot of clean it might not be the best choice ...
  21. I don't know about the PC3 ... And yeah they are pricey, but hey, maple board! :poke: lol
