  1. Hey Maz ! The power tube sockets on the Herbert are made of ceramik. They are chassis mounted and the pins are soldered into the PCB. Best, Peter

I have a '72 Marshall 4x12 with Greenbacks but I think you mentioned that you test with V30s and that is what the Diezel cabs are loaded with. For clean and crunch You are good with the greenbags. For highgain I prefer the V30.

  10. Originally posted by cloudnine I saw that place, very weird dealer. Seems to be online-only and with tax the 50w Einstein would be $4000 Canadian = $3700 US Hi Sean ! Einstein 20 kg Herbert 28 kg Go to bed now !!! ...........
  11. Originally posted by JamesPeters Anyone else see what's funny about this, or is it just me? The Herbert is a great amp. I won't argue preference, but it's one of the best high gain amps I've ever heard. Good Morning James Are You still awake
  12. Originally posted by Snider Well then I guess my bandmate is hearing this too as he has an Einstein and sold his Herbert as the Einstein killed it in the band setting. The Einstein is a better amp.The Einstein has a much fuller frequency range and is a bit more organic sounding but that said still not as good as the other stuff I have . The two -Two Rock amps I have are not Two Rocks, one is completely gutted by Bill from TR and the other was made from scratch. They are three channels with independent eq, Clean, Dumble (2nd channel) as well as a high gain Marshall style circuit for the high gain stuff(3rd Channel) which not one Two Rock ever made contains, not this circuit anyway. As far as Fuchs goes- a Zendrive pedal into any Fender is that that tone or close enough, lots of gain, rolled off highs with the proper mids is an easy emulation of the Fuchs. I have owned 5 fuchs including a 100 watt SLX modded amp so I am familiar with the tones. I can make either of my Krinards sound exactly like a fuchs but not vice versa. If the amps I have right now were not better than the Diezels, Mako CH100, VHTs and Two Rocks and Bogners and Fuchs etc, I would still have some of them but everything has been booted by the Suhr OD100SE with Whomp which is pretty damn cool, and the two Krinards which are amazing. I hope the Cauble shakes up the roost next. It is all subjective and I hope you like the Herbert but I can guarantee within a year you will not own it anymore because you have a good set of ears and are used to the HotCat and Z which share nothing with Herbie. As I have said , the Herbert sounds great in a room by itself. It sounds great at low volumes. It sounds good in power trios. It will not cut it in live situations and if you don't believe me then ask Neil Schon or James Hetfield or Buckethead or Adam Jones or a bunch of other guys who play live. I am back to thinking a VH4S is a good amp for me. I really enjoyed that amp and it sounded quite good in the band setting. That blended with my Krinard 100 running dry in the center and the VH4S stereo on each side would be a sweet thing. Hi Steve I hope You and Diezel are well
  13. Originally posted by thegame Have I played a Diezel amp? I've bought, played, jammed with, recorded, and sold a Diezel amp for your information. Here's the deal; I'm not saying the Diezel chassis is particularly weak, I'm saying that when moderate force is applied to the middle of it (in the back) the chassis moves in and out a bit. Mine did, thats for {censored}ing sure. What does that have to do with the operation of the amp? Nothing! But here's the point; lets say you (or a roadie who doesn't give a {censored}) drops it and it lands on a hard surface of some sort, like stairs or the edge of a cabinet. That spot is going to dent and push the componets around inside! The point of bringing Mako and Wizard into the equation regarding build quality is that you'd have to pound on the chassis with a {censored}ing hammer to make the slightest indentation on the chassis of those amps. A friend of mine accidently dropped his Wizard down a 13 stair flight of stairs and that amp bounced 3 or 4 times on the way down and landed hard on concrete. The wooden headshell was damaged but the chassis was unscathed. Afterwords when plugged in the Wizard performed perfectly. Would a Diezel still work after being put through that? Maybe, maybe not, but I think the chances of a Diezel working perfectly after such an accident (or other blatant abuse) would be less than that of a Wizard or Mako. Nonsense ! The Herbert chassis has a thickness of 2 millimeters. I have never seen this size on other amps. I had one that was fallen down from a stack and worked perfectly. Please stop telling bull{censored} ! Thanks, Peter
  14. Originally posted by vidnotlaw I believe that is who I spoke with. That is Salwender International, correct? I am pretty sure that is the place I had called. I never actually purchased the upgrade, I only spoke with them about it. Please don't get me wrong... you build great amps!!! It just wasn;t the sound for me at the time I was using it. Who knows, maybe some day I'll buy another Diezel! I have yet to hear the VH4 or the newer stuff like the Einstein. I am not sure if what I call 'sizzle' is the same thing as high end buzz! Take for instance the Marshall JCM 2000 that I had. Too me that was a VERY buzzy amp. I did not care for it much at all. And that amp has a very muddy low too me as well! The others amps that I own have 'sizzle' but I would not relate it to high end buzz. Everybody has a different tone in there head and if an amp they find makes that tone come to life... THAT is all that matters! Take care, Vid Thanks

  16. Originally posted by vidnotlaw My experience with Diezel Herbert... I owned the following amps all at the same time: Framus Cobra Mesa Road King (Voodoo Mod) Engl SE into VHT 2/50/2 Diezel Herbert Marshall JCM 2000 TSL 100 Fender Twin Reverb '65 Reissue Roland JC120 I currently own: Mesa Road King (Voodoo Mod) Engl SE into VHT 2/50/2 VHT UL Fender Twin Reverb '65 Reissue Roland JC120 Whenever I would jam or have friends over to play, I never used the Herbert. I was also in a Death Metal band at the time and used my Engl SE exclusively for that. The Herbert is a great amp, but it just lacked the high end 'sizzle' (on the gain channels) the the other amps I had at the time had. The clean channel on the Herbert was the best (compared to the high gainers), with the Framus following close behind it. Since I already own a Twin Reverb '65 Re-Issues, I didn't need the Herbert clean channel so much. But as far as the gain channel of the Herbert, I much preferred any of the other amps with the exception of the Marshall. The Herbert has PLENTY of gain on tap, but it just sounds so 'tame' (only word I can think of). It doesn't come to life and smack you in the face! The bottom end was tight and kicked hard (that was great), but the high end was not there for me. For me, the other amps sounded more 'organic' and had more 'bite' to them. The bass on my Road King (Recto) may be 'loose' to your ears, but for me it sounds more 'alive' and 'organic'. I don't 'abuse the bass on my Road King as others probably do. The Rectos already have plenty of Bass, so keep that knob relatively low. KRANK those mids and add a little high end... and "BOOM"... you have great bottem end thump and high end sizzle with smooth mids! But keep in mind mine is Voodoo Modded. By far my favororite amp is my Road King. I spent several hours comparing the Framus Cobra, Road King, Engl SE and the Herbert over a couple of days. Every time I plugged in to the Herbert after playing the others, I was left dissapointed with the gain channel. That is just my opinion though, I AM NOT SAYING THAT THE HERBERT SUCKS!!! IT IS A GREAT AMP, just not for me. By the way, it was V 2.0 and V2.5 was available for $150.00 and shipping charges both ways (US rep)... I figured I had already paid $4100.00 for the amp, I shouldn't have to pay $150.00 for the V2.5 upgrade (which from my understanding was only a few resistor/cap changes... not 100% positive though). Plus they told me they could 'fix' the high end 'issue' I was describing. I ended up selling it to a forum mate. I am not the only one that was under the same impression about the high end on this amp. I had several friends come over and compare the amps as well. We all felt the same... lack of 'sizzle'. I know of one other person on this board that has stated the same thing, but I am not going to bring them into this thread. If they choose to voice their opinion then that is their choice. Again, the Diezel Herbert is an INCREDIBLE amp with GREAT build quality... it just didn't 'do it' for me. Take care, Vid Hello Vid ! You are right, I don

You mention justifing the sound of an amp; as I mentioned before my post was not about the sound qualities whatsover, only the "built like a tank" comment which has nothing to do with sound. Get it? Dear thegame Please no offense about my bad English. I do my best. And tell me more about HIGHER quality. Give me a lesson. Pete
