Members Hahutzy
Hey guys,I recently got myself an E-A (Peavey Ecoustic), because I wanted to be able to plug in when I'm at home, but also to play unplugged when I'm travelling. The only thing missing though, is that my E-A doesn't have a whammy bar.I know that the Peavey Ecoustic ATS has a whammy bar, but those things are like extinct nowadays...I'm wondering if there's any other E-As with a whammy bar? Or, if there's any way to add a whammy bar to an E-A?Thanks.
Members newbuilder
I played a Martin AE with a bigsby that was made out of metal and ran $500ish back about 3-4 years ago. Here it is, I had a ton of fun playing it.
Members GCDEF
I would think in most cases the top wouldn't be strong enough to support one, and that since a lot of the sound from an acoustic comes from the vibrating top, it would be detrimental to the sound. Members Hahutzy
The Peavey Ecoustic ATS did it by integrating the whammy into the bridge I think. And I would prefer a guitar made of wood... Haha. Just a thought: what if the whammy is installed onto the guitar from the back end of the guitar, and then bends to the front? Members Flogger59
Jeff Lynne used an Ovation w/Bigsby with the Wiburys.
Members Hahutzy
Yes I saw a photo of that. My E-A is a thin body though, and I prefer them over full acoustic guitars with built-in piezo pickups and preamp. Was Peavey Ecoustic ATS really the only E-A that came stock with a whammy?
