Members SirJackdeFuzz
While I think the Tele single coil in the bridge gives it a lot of its distinctive character, I have never had much use for the Strat bridge single coil, so I vote HSS. . . . so you never use a strat bridge alone ? How come mate

Members clay sails
I like the look of SSS better, but if you can do an HSS with coil-split, you get the best of all worlds, IMO.

Members Help!I'maRock!
there are plenty of single coil sized humbuckers out there.
Members tomtraubert
my favourite strat has a bridge humbucker with a coil tap,i pretty much always keep it split as i prefer its sound over a s/c,not as harsh imo.the fact it's wired for its own tone control also helps. Members Jables66
I have a strat with an HS-3 in the neck, and a D-Sonic in the bridge. I'm considering converting it to HSH because there's a serious drop in gain when I go from the bridge to the neck pickup. I have the same problem with my Strat. I replaced the S-S-S setup with an S-S-H a while ago, and when I flick to the next pick-up theres an enormous loss of tone definition and distortion. Don't suppose you know what I can do to make it beefier? Also, I'm completely refitting my mid-80's Squier Bullet with Les Paul style chrome humbuckers, just to see what happens. I'd recommend keeping atleast one humbucker because they sound so much better, but that's just my opinion.

Members Mcfontio
It's routed for HSS? I think there's you answer.. Though, I would rather have the SSS cause there's plenty of single sized pickups that would do the job.
