Members DRGUN
hey yall, im trying to wire my guitar so the tone control is taken out of the circuit when the pot is pulled. basically "pushed" would be no tone control (just pickup to volume pot) and "pulled" would make it a standard tone control. its a les paul style setup with 2 humbuckers, 2 volume and two tone pots. how would i wire this? Members cratz2
Hrmm... I think it would be easier to just go with a no load tone pot. Even if you wired it so that when you pulled up on it, it took the pot out of the circuit, you are losing a tiny bit of signal in the switch to take the tone pot out of the circuit. I'd either just go with a 1M pot or leave it out entirely.
Members Xenoanthropus
I think if you're the kinda guy who owuld include that feature, you may as well not have a tone pot. or, do what I did, and leave the tone pot inside the cavity, and put a SPDT switch in place of the pot. switch up, tone pot engaged, switch down, bypass through it. Members DonP
It's not rocket science... Break the link where te cap connects to the volume pot. Connect a wire from where it attached to the volume pot to one end of the switch lug. Connect the end of the cap you broke away from the volume pot to the other lug of the switch. Done. I do like the idea of a no-load pot much better. Save the push/pull for splitting coils or series/parallel.
