Members 45below
Hey guysI've changed around my idea for building a guitar and need some more input... I'm thinking about mahogany body/mahogany neck with a P90 (LP junior style)However, how would a maple neck sound compared to a mahogany neck? Would there really be that much difference? thanks
Members Darkstorm
Maple would be a little brighter sounding, close to the same as maple body compared to mahogany body. Though probably not quite as much a tweak. Comparing my epiphone g400 all mahogany body and neck to my bC rich bolt on maple neck and mahogany body with same bridge pup in both, the BC Rich with maple neck is a little brighter sounding. Not as much as if it had maple body instead of mahogany, but still a little brighter with maple neck.
Members mygolfcart123
I don't know about the difference between those two woods, but I can say that the Brazillian rosewood neck on my PRS private stock modern eagle 1 helps it get incredible sustain. Of course, now it is illegal to import that wood into the country, but if you ever lucked out and found some, that would be some great wood for a neck!
