My first experiment with the Tech 21 Blonde Character pedal

This is about as quick and dirty as it gets. A blonde Character peal arrived in the mail this afternoon. I have no real monitor system and no way to interface it directly to my computer, but I have a Mackie SRM 150 (basically their equivalent of a Hot Spot monitor) and the Mackie has an XLR line out on the back that does hook up to my interface. So with nothing but this itty bitty speaker and a gerry rigged interface, I dialed in the character setting and tone in about 30 seconds and hit record. Here's the results. (The reverb comes from Garage Band. There's also a bit of hiss but I have no way of knowing if that's coming from the pedal or the improvised interface).

The Characters tend to hiss with any kind of medium level or gain, regardless of the character knob's setting. You could have a very low gain sound and still have some hiss.

 

These things are cool.
