Members Dash4814
Specs from Ibanez say the width is 1 11/16. Earvana offers three options in that width: a Gibson-style "drop-in shelf nut", a "perfect replacement" nut, and a "perfect retro-fit." Which one would work with an AS73? Members Wyatt
Okay...they are a little vague on this. Clarity is not Earvana's strong-point, I bet their horrible descriptions impede their sales. You DO NOT want the "Perfect Replacement," it's their OEM nut, it requires the nut slot to be originally cut for the Earvana nut. If you were building a new build and wanted to commit to the Earvana permanently, you could have Warmoth and others cut the correct slot. The other two are conversion nuts, you can use either...what you want to use is the Drop-In. The Perfect Retro-Fit was their original replacement-style Earvana, it has a spacer that goes into the nut slot and the Earvana nut is screwed into the spacer. This is to allow the off-set parts to overhand the fretboard. It's a hassle to install and ,many find the two parts dampen string vibrations and sustain and maybe thin out the tone. The Drop-In is the newest replacement style. Just one piece, no screws, cleaner look, more solid for string vibration, and less hassle. They moved the off-sets to inside of the nut, it's the "better mousetrap."

Members Cobalt Blue
Hey thanks, their site is pretty terrible description-wise! I agree, but I do have to say that I always send an email to the site owner, and he emails me back, usually within a day.
Members McCain
The OEM would probably require you to remove a thin piece of the fretboard so the OEM nut could be moved forward a little so it would intonate right. If you wanted to do it they would probably explain the procedure.
