Members New Trail
I just traded for a guitar that has what looks like sticky gunk, possibly from old tape and a piece of velcro that's still on there (not sure why!). I want to clean it without harming the finish. What is best? Thanks!

Members fu2jobu
I would assume it's much like removing a sticker & residue: http://www.fender.com/news/index.php?display_article=

Members mike42
I've always pretty much used mineral sprits, or ordinary paint thinner for that kind of clean-up. They're not real strong solvents, but they stay "wet" longer than most of the more volatile stuff, and they will eventually soften up almost any adhesive residue. They will leave some residue of their own, so I usually do a final wipe down with alcohol. I don't think any of the stuff mentioned in the thread would hurt poly or lacquer, unless you left it on there forever. edit: always good to test anything like this on some hidden spot before you use it.
