Members Roy Brooks
If one of those Surfcasters like the very first one posted showed up for sale near me I would probably buy it.
Members squinty_lefty
People go rabid for these guitars, and for good reason. there is a huge collector's market for them. Why Charvel didn't include them as a reissue when they introduced the desolation wit the same body shape is beyond me. Dumb move from my point of view. I know at least half a dozen people that would buy one sight unseen if they made them again. Yup...collectors crave these like Iranians crave yellow cake Uranium. I know that David Lowery of Camper Van Beethoven/Cracker has been using Surfcasters to play rhythm guitar since the mid-80s...possibly because they are the only guitar as eccentric as he is. Anyhow, Camper Van Beethoven has had all their gear stolen three or four times in the past few years and every time all the band's gear eventually gets recovered... ...with the exception of Lowery's SurfCaster. Or so the legend goes.

Those are 2008/2009 Surfcasters from Jackson Stars Japan, aren't they? Yes they are Jackson Stars Japan models. The Black and Red one are probably some of the last ones made. I ordered them from the Guitar Japan website and had to wait 8 weeks for them to be built.
