Members SheDrummer
If you could have only one crash in your set-up, how many inches would it be? If you have time, tell me what genre you play too.

Members rca
18". It's easier to play a large crash softly than a small crash loudly. I play mostly rock, but would rather play blues or jazz.
Members Snake
18" medium crash - probably the most versatile, IMO.
Members otacon28
18" also maybe even a crash/ride model .
Members snaresmacker
i'm the werido who picked the 19". now that i think of it, 18" inch is just as good depending on brand/model. i play in a melodic emo-rock band, but that's not the only genre i play. Members Sir Enrico Buttcock
I'd go for an 18" one. The fewer cymbals I have the more versatile they should be. An 18" crash is big enough to work as a small, light ride and that might come in handy especially on a lighter, jazz type of gig. Bigger than 18" then...couldn't imagine using one of those as a crash in a quieter setting...
Members seizeman
I would go for my Chad Smith sign. crash, which is actually 18.5";) ... But since it hasn't been an opportunity, I voted for an 18" crash...

Members SheDrummer
I appreciate your responses. Thanks to all of you who have posted here and voted. I always thought my answer to this question would be 18" but recently I have found that the 16" counterparts are often more musical. While in the market for an 18" K Dark Crash, I played the 18" and the 16". The 16" was amazing and even the 80's metal looking dude who worked at Guitar Center said he always tells people that the 16" K Dark med-thin is "the best sounded cymbal in the room" and added "and I don't even play Zildjians". After banging on everything around I had to agree. Are smaller cymbals often more musical and sweet or does it equally swing both ways? anybody?........... Members Chabo
I would take a Zildjian A 16" Medium crash were I to be limited to only one. I love mine; it's nice and versatile, and can be played effectively at almost any volume, and with just about any style, from showtunes to metal. I think it goes both ways. I have a 16" AA medium and an 18" AA medium as well. 16" is by far my favorite of the two. However, I just bought an 19" AAXPosion crash and it sounds very musical to my ears. Loud quick response with a nice shimmering overtones and sustain. Good luck in your search! Members joestanman
Id use a 19' or a 20inch ride, and crash it.
Members dreamrealm
i choose 19" 'cause i have now 3 17" 's and 2 18" 's so 19" should be fine....
Members Glyder
I like the Zildian A Customs and the Sabian AAXplosions the best myself. I have a 15in A Thin and it just does'nt fit in with them. I've retired it for now. But anyway if i had to have only one it would probably be the
