Members Jarick
I've been playing my 7x14 almost exclusively. The 14" snare just sounds much more interesting than the 13". A lot more ring, more punch, more low end, more everything. Maybe I just need to get new heads for the 13" as I used to love it.
Members boomboomdrums
I have 3 snare drums: 1. 5 1/2 x 14 Slingerland wood snare. I got this one for Christmas in 1972. Still my main snare to this day. Sounds great and has gotten me many compliments over the years. I can tune it tight for a high pop, or low. Sounds good either way. 2. 5 1/2 x 14 Yamaha Stage Custon steel. This is my backup snare. I bring it to all gigs in case the Slingerland has a problem. It only has once. Not a big fan of metal snare drums. 3. 12 x 14? Premier Lite Marching snare. Use this for parades and sometimes rudimental practice. It's not free floating, just an old school snare drum. I bought it off of eBay after I saw Blast! in 2002 and decided to get back into marching stuff.
Members devinw
80s Acrolite (5 x 14). I love it love it love it! Also have the 14" maple that came with my Saturns. It's ok, but I just have to stick with the Acro.
