Members NomadDudeMan
i need suggestions. i have never puchased a new one. and while i am at it, i need a batter side as well. The tone i want is a punch with a still dry thud to it. my drum is only 22 inches.... but thats what i have at the moment. and it is a relitivly cheap set so... ya. and if volume is affected by the heads, i wouldnet mind having heads that make my kick louder. I like bass drum. Has anyone tried using like one of thoes heads that look like they are made of paper and deer skin? just asking what are thoes like? what would be good? Members cdawg
folks are gonna jizz on about the ps3's, but i don't care for them. personally, i'd go with an emperor or an ambassador, coated. did the fiberskyns for a while, they're cool and warm. all in the tuning. Members drumsdb
It depends a lot on the music style you are playing. I happen to be a big fan of the Evan's EMAD with the external muffling. If you don't want something that fancy, the EQ4 are also great. DB
Members JMR
If you want thud and punch, EMAD will do. but I don't like them. Well... the coated one is awlllllright.

Members lsits
Another vote for the Aquarian Super Kick II. I also have the Regulator with the 5" hole for the reso.
Members Zon5string
I've heard lots about the SK2/3, and played a couple of kits equipped with them, but I always come back to a Pinstripe. I tried the EMAD, but hated the rings, and that plastic lip that holds them cracked almost immediately (down where the pedal clamps on to the hoop). Members formula428
I'm a fan of both the SKII and the EMAD, currently playing the EMAD. Remember, beater selection also plays a big role in the tone...currently using the IC beater.
