Members cg_25
A friend of mine just got an Alesis D4 which he'll be using to run 4 pads. He wants to be able to use his own samples and run everything from his PC. I told him he'll need to use the midi out to send the signal to his computer. Other than that I'm not sure what to tell him. I've never used a D4, does anyone know if you can load custom samples onto it, or if there is software available for it? Alternatively can anyone recommend some good sampling software for a PC? Members kmart
To my knowledge, the D4 can not have samples 'loaded' on it & then triggered...Not totally sure, but I believe you're on the right path with having to send MIDI from the D4 to somewhere else to trigger samples. Members SYMBOLIC
You can't add sounds to the DM-4, and your drummer may be better served using the Alesis I/O device to trigger samples from a computer. I think you could still do that with the DM-4, but I don't know what program you would need to do that in the computer.
Members cg_25
It seems like there's a bunch of sampling software out there. Not sure if they support midi input or even how that would work. I found a PDF of the DM4 manual, I'll see what that has to say.
