Members Thunderbroom
What are your thoughts about having a Guest Book, Forum or similar stuff on a band's website? The lead singer in my band suggested that I put a guest book up.
Members takeout
Forums are a pain unless someone else is administering/moderating them. I never understood the utility of a guestbook. Stick with an e-newsletter. If someone replies to you with something funny or interesting, blog it on the front page of your 'site. Everything else is a hassle. Members Thunderbroom
I'm not sure about the guest book idea either, but I don't mind figuring out how to configure one if that's what folks want.
Members Melanie
Don't bother with a forum. You end up with either noone on it, or just the band members posting under fake names.
Members Dragoon
What Melanie and takeout said. You might consider a myspace site too, among other benefits the 'friends' who add you serve as sort of a guestbook of people who give a damn
Members Melanie
Yeah, myspace is cool Check out http://www.myspace.com/nohopeastronaut (my boyf's new band) for ideas about what you can do

Members tdempsey
really, skip the guest book.you may get half a dozen fans to post, but if it slows down you'll just have paltry, dated entries that will look kind of pathetic.
Members THX1138
MySpace is a great idea. www.myspace.com/tk421band But I also like the forum idea if you can keep enough fans there to keep it going. We actually started a Yahoo group to serve as our "forum". Eventually we are going to do a website re-design and include the forum on our own site, but for now the Yahoo group is working just fine. TB - If you do look into a forum, give www.band-boards.com a look. A friend of mine designed that site specifically for bands needing forums, but who don't want the hassle of upkeep. Members Phyrexian
We, Ashville, have a guestbook and a forum.http://www.ashville.be/ The guestbook is for quick visitors. A very easy way to quickly deliver a message. We use the forum as an easy way to update the news page on our website. No hassle with HTML editing and all. All new posts in the 'news' subsection are automaticly posted on the news page on the site. The forum is configurated that only band members can make new posts in the news area... Anyways... me and our lead guitarist are both web and graphic designers. It helps.
Members meegaleedo
We have a guest book, forum and a contact page. I am not really sure of the forum's purpose but I am not taking care of the web site.

Members bassplayer7770
In my limited experience, Forums get very little activity and just aren't worth the hassle. Guest books seem to be pretty popular, though.
