Members anonimouse
i am borrowing a squire p-bass from a friend of mine, and just last nite the nut broke on the highest string. kinda just cracked right in half so the string is now laying on the first fret. i am going to have to replace it now. is this somthing that i could do myself? just get a replacement nut and glue it in, or would i have to take it somewhere to have this done? seems like it couldnt be too difficult to fix. is there anything i need to know? seems like all the plastic on this thing is complete crap. the pickguard also broke where the plug is so im gonna have to replace that too. with the amount im spending on parts i could practically buy them a new one. Members januaryscar
Id take it to a professional to get it done. But getting a good nut installed may cost more than the bass itself!!
Members fretless
you need to know the dimensions of the neck and it's either curved or flat in the slot , and you may be able to get a precut replacement http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/420746/
Members beav2k2
I would just go to www.ebay.com and buy a graphtech P bass nut. Once you get it in, remove the old nut, clear out the hole, put a drop of superglue in the hole, and place the new nut in the slot. Very easy.
