Yeah, why don't I like Rush? I should. It's got bass. It's got synth. The songs are more interesting than average. It's got "concept" stuff. I think it's OK, but I'm not nuts about it. Can't take too much of that voice. What's wrong with me?

I do like Ozzy's singin' on Rick Wakeman's Return to the Centre of the Earth. Only one song though.

These days I'm also less into listening to music for reasons linked specifically because the bassist is the focal point. I have more appreciation for the smooth, but technically "easy" bass lines on some old motown tunes as I once did for guys like Les and Geddy...still great musicians, but more into the sound as a whole, not just because the bassist gives me a musical woody.

I've been ripping CDs to my hard drive since 99 when my Onkyo receiver died. Currently I've got about 220GB of 320k max VBR (EAC/LAME) ripped CDs Maybe 60GB of that is live bootlegs in .flac and .shn (slowly converting to wav and then to 320k max VBR MP3s... taper/traders bitch but this is for my listening and my 38 year old shot ears can't tell the difference 4x the size produces)

last time I loaded EVERYTHING into a playlist (well over a year ago) it saved as a 1.5mb document :thu:

Most people I know think my >80GB collection is gigantic, but it's nothing compared to 220GB! Mine are lower bitrates though, and all MP3. I've got the space to have it all as flacs though, which I'd like, but I don't want to take the time to re-rip them, just not to be able to put 'em on my ipod. :(

Future Perfect is an amazing record! Before that (finally) came out, they had released a self-produced 5 song demo. I'll gladly share it with you, as it is out of print and contains 2 songs which you may not have heard (along with turnstile blues, angry candy and sugarless). I am convinced that one of the songs (which is actually titled Future Perfect) has been reworked into what is now "great days for the passenger element".
