Members gretschzildjian
That man was an icon...Didn't he play the sax solos on Dire Straits' Your latest trick? That always gave me goosebumps.

Members Rippin' Robin
I never gave this thread a second thought until a news item about Brecker came by on the news, with a sound bite. The style of the sound bite sounded familiar... I pulled my copy of Jaco's 'The birthday concert' out of the closet, and that's right, Michael Brecker on tenor sax. Never knew a lot about him, but I dug the crazy sax lines on that album.
Members Funkee1
Michael Brecker has been ill for a long time. I am saddened by his passing, but glad his suffering is over. If there's a rock and roll Heaven, then you know thewy got a helluva band!
Members brewgoodbeer
I need he had been critically ill. I applied for a teaching position at his old high school. There was a foundation set up there. What a great player. I remember seeing the Brecker Bros in the early 80's. It was a smokin band. They had Will Lee on bass. The whole thing just moved. It was a great rollercoaster ride. It is a shame.
Members bassist31588
Will be missed. I had the great opportunity to play with his brother Randy Brecker and it was in my future to atleast meet Michael. I had honestly thought he was on a road to recovery. Nobody's immune though, even the 'gods' of music. I don't think it was his time yet. I feel for his family.
Members 82Daion
The OU jazz band is playing "Some Skunk Funk" in tribute. We'll see how it goes, but it sounds good so far.
