Members slapthefunkyfour
Beat Frequencies/Beat wave That is what I was taught. I think chorus is what happens when you use different beat frequencies on purpose through something like a chorus pedal:freak:

Members Jazz Ad
It's chorus. Beat wave is indeed the name of the physical phenomenon involved.

Members molsen
i assume that by tonal differences you mean pitch differences. in which case, a common term for it is dissonance

Members knuckle_head
CHORUS: Effect created by doubling a signal and adding delay and pitch modulation. Linky DISSONANCE: Music. A combination of tones contextually considered to suggest unrelieved tension and require resolution. Linky I believe dissonance occurs between set intervals and is more a device than effect. Chorusing requires a much closer relationship in pitch. Chorusing can also be caused by too-close pickup proximity (to strings).
