Had a guy from N.Z. contact me about buying my QSC on the 'Bay.

Said he has a shipping company that I'd send the amp to (no pickup this time!), and only after they sent me funds via PayPal, and he told me I could wait til it hit my bank acct before even shipping.

Has 100% feedback, so that's a good thing, but still-

anything 3rd party has me spooked to bejesus and back, for all those that remember my Diesel 610 fiasco a few years back...

Here are his messages:

1. Hello from Summer in New Zealand. I would like to buy your

QSC amp. Are you ok selling it to me even though I live in NZ? I

would pay via PayPal and once you have received payment all

you would need to do is send the amp to my Shipper, Mapp

Cargo in Redondo Beach, California. If you check my Feedbacks

you will see I have purchased quite a few expensive pro audio

items from the US and UK without any problems to the Sellers. In

the last 2 weeks I have purchased 10 x QSC 3402 amps already

from other Sellers on Ebay and I need a few more. Let me know

if I can bid. Regards - Greg

2. Hello again and thanks for bothering to reply. Obviously, I

respect your decision and I'm sorry to hear you have suffered

losses in the past from non-US Bidders. If you decide to re-

consider your decision, please keep in mind that my purchase

would not involve an international shipment for you. All you

would need to do is send the amp to a Californian address oncce

you had been paid in full via PayPal. Should be totally risk free

for you - as in, wait till you have the money in your account

then send the amp to Calif. If you have a look at the Completed

Listing on QSC 3402 amps on Ebay, you will see I have

purchased 13 x 3402 over the last two week - 3 more this

morning. I have paid for all of them already via PayPal without a

hitch. If you check my feedback you will read that all the US

Sellers how have sold to are happy with the Trade. We are a 30

year old PA company in N.Z. If you search Oceania Audio on

Google you will find our website and a fair bit of info.

3. Hello again from New Zealand - don't suppose you have had a

change of heart re me placeing a bid? Shipping would be to

California and payment via PayPal. Let me know if you are

interested. Regards - Greg

Ok or no?

Will it even plug in in NZ? Don't they use different AC plugs and power?

I had a guy try something on me recently... He lived locally, yet wouldnt pay by cash, email money transfer, western union, cheque (that I would wait for it to clear), postal money order or anything. Insisted that a third party pay me, wouldnt tell me how they were going to do it. Wanted my home address and telephone number to "send funds too."

Just sounded too fishy. My impression in this case was they wanted to break in and steal it. Use my phone to call and see when I wouldnt be home. I ended the deal. As such, that bass is now on Ebay. See my sig :D

Where's Summer?

Actually, it stinks to me. Who here has a shipper arranged at a foreign port?

If he's legit, and he uses paypal, I'd stipulate that there's a waiting period (by your bank's recommendation) for the payment to fully clear. He could be using a bogus credit card and it takes about ten days for those things to be sniffed out. And by 'sniffed out' I mean your account gets backdrafed and overdrawn.

I just don't know how you can get all the good Feedback though?

There's a million ways to get fraudulent positive feedback on eBay. You made the right choice to pass this one up. Like somebody said before, there will be other buyers for your amp.

I guess I'm more trusting - or rather trust buy validate. If you can look at his past items purchased and insure that they aren't dummy sales and can contact them to validate their experience, why not? Hold the item until the payment clears.

I've done this - never been ripped off.

Keep in mind that so many countries rip off their citizens with high import taxes that you can sell a used item in some cases for more than you paid for it. You make a little $$ and the buyer gets a fair deal also.

I would never advocate cheating any gov'ment out of their dues but I ain't gonna contribute one penny more than necessary.

I don't understand why it would matter if he pays you and send it to where he wants. He bought it; therefore he is responsible for the shipping address. I'd wait to make sure payment clears but I wouldn't care if he messes up and doesn't get his item. Ain't my problem, I did what he asked. Or you could just leave him and I probably would do that too.

I've sold things to people in Europe who wanted me to ship to a relative or a friend in the US so that they could ship it cheaper.

and everytime we go to Brazil, our suitcases are full of stuff for relatives and friends. Brazil has close to a 90% import tax on certain items - esp electronic items. I'm happy to help them out also - right up to the per person limit of $500 US each.
