Members VengefulTikiGod
The infamous $90 Rogue bass off Musicians' Friend. Bought off my friend for $50. P-style pickup. After shimming the neck and adjusting the intonation a bit, it is playable. So. It's got a long enough neck to have some pop to it, but the body is pretty small, so not the most substantial tone. What would you do? Put in a nice pickup? Whack off the frets? It's not heavy enough to get a very strong slap/pop tone, so should I just go fretless and go for the smooth sound? Heck, just tell me what you would do, I'm just interested in hearing a diversity of ideas.

Members ec437
Seeing as it is a $50 bass, you should try as hard as possible to do all mods for free. See how awesome you can get it

Members Death Hands
I snagged a Lyon By Washburn bass from a pawn shop for like 87 dollars and have put about 34 dollars into defretting/refinishing supply. I'm sure I've done something totally wrong and absolutely ruined it, but past that, it has been some super fun. If I haven't killed it, I'm gonna drop a new bridge in along with a new pickup and probably electronics. I may also change out the tuners. So do those things?
