Members Billy-B
I picked up a DiPinto K&A short scale a while back, used it for a gig for the first time yesterday. For a lot of that 60's British Invasion sound, not much compares to the muddy thump of a SS. I put a set of 108 flats on it--quite a cool sound and it tightened up the E string. Members RockBass
I learned on this bad boy:'70's Gibson EB-3Sounded cool, but just wasn't right for me. I still have it, but it just sits around.
Members BmoreTele
Does anyone tune their short scale bass higher? A-D-G-C, for example? Or E-A-D-G piccolo range? That would seem to deal with the muddiness/string tension problems and optimize the tone from the shorter scale.
