Members Bassplayer4God
Im starting to get into really liking to play funk, blues, and jazz instead of the same ole metal stuff and need some good advice. Im also tryen to learn scales and music theory. So if anyone knows some good advice on how to get started playing those genres or learning scales and stuff it'd be greatly appreciated or even if yall have any good bass players to listen to thatd be awesome. Members Thumper
Get some old Motown recordings. And some Sly and the Family Stone, War, Stevie Wonder ('Innervisions' rules)etc and listen to the bass. Also, get a P-bass or Jazz and string it with flats. Members Crescent Seven
The best advice I can give you is to download the Fruity Loops demo and put together some straight beats at around 120bpm, and practice your quarter notes both straight and syncopated. Then, practice your use of ghost notes, the pentatonic scale, and octave jumps. C7

Programming drums(re. the OTHER side) gives you great insight into what your really doing on the rhythmic side.
