Mackie SRM150 Compact PA/Monitor

I just picked up a Mackie SRM150. I've only used it at rehearsal and it made a big difference in vocal strain for me. I was able to hear myself clearly.

We don't have any gigs booked yet but I 'll set the SRM150 up on a mic stand with my usual floor monitor to see if it'll keep up on a gig and have the floor wedge ready to go if it doesn't. We're not terribly loud (rock covers) so I'm hoping it'll work. It'll be nice to hear myself near-field (sniper) rather than via floor wedge splashing sound all over the place (shotgun). The Mackie will offer very narrow coverage that'll probably be one of the biggest downfalls as I'm the lead singer and move around a bit. I'll consider IEM's if the Mackie doesn't cut it (either Mipro or Sennheiser/UE-7 Pro).

I A/B'd the SRM150 with my friend's TC Helicon VSM-300 XT and we liked the sound of the Mackie better but agreed the Helicon looked nicer. The Mackie's three-band EQ definitely made a difference.

Here's a link to the Mackie page:

Feel free to hit me up with questions about the SRM150.

Cheers!

Greg
