Members Giddry
Now, I know this is ridiculous but I've only played through the PA system once. And that one time a sound guy set it up for us. We don't have a designated sound guy right now (we have a friend that knows what sounds bad and good... and futzes with our mixer) and we don't play many places that have sound engineers (aka colleges and small bars.) I want to know how to set myself up to play through the PA, what I need in terms of a direct box, etc etc etc... Educate me, please! Thanks in advance! Members guitargod0dmw
You would need a DI and the appropriate cables. bass-->1/4" cable-->DI-->XLR cable (as long as your board allows it)--> board
Members PaulyWally
Well... ummm... First things first. You have an amp, right? Does if have a DI on the back? If so, you just run a cable from that, straight into the PA mixer. If you're talking about not carrying a lot of gear around, then you need some type of small preamp or DI box. And there are many... MANY choices to choose from. You're not confined to those that are just made for bass... you can use any microphone preamp you choose. In either case, the basics are the same. You plug your bass into the preamp/DI... and plug the preamp/DI into the PA mixer.
