weight and tone of bass

Every wood has a different tone- I have a Japanese Fender jazz and it's heavy as hell. I definitely think weight has something to do with tone, in basses as well as speakers. In basses, weight means a denser wood with a different harmonic resonance frequency. Let's all remember that the acoustic properties of a bass will give you a very good idea of the way an instrument will sound once you plug it in.

Well I have a super heavy Gibson that sounds great, so yes heavy weight does make great tone.

Wait, I also have a nice and light LeCompte that also sounds great, so then heavy weight does not make great tone...:freak:
