Yeah he's pretty smokin'

So you're getting the bass I assume?

Well, it's not out yet. Musicman is suppose to release it at NAMM which is this week isn't it?

So it will show up in stores soon...right in time for my refund check....which is already spent on my Markbass LittleMark II and Avatar cab and a couple of pedals.

I'm thinking this thing will be around 1700 or 1800...which is out of my price range at the moment. But of course, I'll play the hell out of it at GC until they escort me from the building. :)

The chances of my GC having a Bongo 6 at any time is zero.

Did you see the picture of the natural finished/unfinished one? I like how that looks.

Yeah, I know...unfortunately it was only the prototype. They haven't said anything that there is going to be a natural finish to any of the Bongos. But I guess we'll see at NAMM.

Would be sweet though. I think because they use basswood for the bongos, and EB/MM almost always uses ash in their natural finishes...but I think ash would be way too heavy on this thing.

Basswood isn't the prettiest, but neither are the painted Bongos.

I hope this line is successful for EBMM. I think it is a great time for people to start playing extended range basses.

Primus and Dream Theater were around in the 90's weren't they...

Very mainstream. Lots of exposure.:p

The proliferation of the internet into our daily lives has allowed for people to be exposed to a much greater range of musical ideas (though most of the time we choose not to take advantage of the opportunities) and has given many players exposure to ERBs that they didn't have in the 90s. When I was bass shopping in the 90s there were literally only a handful of 5 string basses for sale in the entire city of Chicago. I had to drive from store to store checking out one or two basses at a time. The only 6 string I was even aware of (and I was a diligent researcher) was Carvin. Now I can walk into my local GC and find numerous (20+) 5 and 6 string basses. I can walk to the guitar shop at the end of my block and play a 7 string bass. The difference is remarkable.
