That though was a real explosion that damaged Townshends ear They still do a lot too. There's a few instances on 'Top of the Pops' here where bands have just completely taken the piss over having to mime. Nirvana was famous for it, Kurt crooning smells like teen spirit an octave lower than normal whilst dave and krist just messed round in the background.
